How to Save Time, Automate Repetetive Tasks & Duplicate yourself on Twitter …using Tweet Later

Everyone is atwitter about Twitter, which has gone mainstream seemingly overnight. You can find all kinds of people and companies on Twitter from all around the world.

I wrote a Twitter Newbie Jumpstart Guide which can be downloaded for free from my @AndreaTannouri profile page here on TwitterTango.com no strings attached. =)

Have you ever wondered how Tweeple follow and have thousands of followers and have the time to keep up with them? The easiest and fastest way to build, cultivate and connect with a large network of Tweeple is to take advantage of the best Twitter tools that have risen to serve the needs of us busy Tweeple.

The best, most useful tool that I’ve used almost since I started seriously tweeting in December of 2008 has been Tweet Later HANDS DOWN. Tweet Later is like having your own virtual, personal assistant just to help you be more productive and reach more Tweeple using Twitter.

Transparency Disclosure: Tweet Later has a FREE & PRO version. I use the PRO. Tweet Later offers an Affiliate Program for which I have signed up. My affiliate link can be found by clicking the banner ad on the right of all pages in TwitterTango. If you’d rather me not get credit for turning you on to Tweet Later, that’s fine, but don’t even think about not checking it out because you’d be seriously missing out on saving tons of hours per month - hours that could be spent Tweeting instead. =)

The secret of Twitter is to connect with people, have conversations and make connections. Tweet Later provides a indispensable service that will help save you time on the repetitive, boring stuff and allow you more time to carry on @ conversations with people. Set it up to automate the things that you’d normally spend time on and voila! Thousands of tweeple, tweets and tasks over multiple accounts managed easily.

One of the reasons I signed up for Tweet Later in the beginning was to have the ability to send a nice welcome message to new Tweeple who followed me. I also set it to automatically follow new people that followed me because I wanted to be polite and really connect.

After about 7K people I realized that it might be better to selectively choose to follow people who interact with me and add value to my network, and not just follow back anyone - thereby avoiding spammers and people who are mass following just to get more followers, a common tactic that totally misses the point of Twitter.

You see, it’s not about the numbers of followers. It’s about your ability to connect with, motivate, inspire and add value to their Tweetstream and even their lives. Just as you should follow and interact with Tweeple that can do the same for you.

( Let me let you in on a little secret. Take a look at any twitterer- if you see that they are following more people than are following them back, they are using the mass follow method of gathering Tweeple)

I also set Tweet Later now to automatically unfollow any one who stops following me. Were you to try to do this manually, it would take up a lot of time because it must be done individually and regularly to weed out the unfollowers. A common trick of spammers and people looking just for numbers of followers is to follow and then a few days after you follow them back, they unfollow you, making their numbers look bigger and their ratio “better”. Again, this means nothing and they are totally missing the point.

It’s so common for us to try to measure ourselves against others, and in Twitter, especially newbies will miss not realize that NUMBERS MEAN NOTHING. The power of twitter is in the interaction and the connection. If people like you and what you have to say, if you offer them value, they will want to share that with their network by mentioning you as a good person to follow, retweet your tweets or even write you a Twestimonial to @MrTweet.

Recently I began using Tweet Later PRO to use Twitter to broadcast my messages to a wider audience. Because Twitter is used by people around the world and we are all in different time zones, sometimes you miss the interaction if you only get on Twitter once a day or every few days. Tweet Later can be set up to tweet for you while you are offline or busy with something else.

You can also do all of your tweeting and replying right from inside of Tweet Later. You can see who has replied to you, reply back to them, reply all, send a new tweet, retweet, and manage multiple Twitter accounts, in the event that you tweet for more than one organization. All that and it is free!

For those that do use Twitter more than just for personal reasons Tweet Later offers a professional upgrade
that allows you to do everything above plus things like integrate with Ping.fm, schedule direct messages, replies, recurring and spinnable tweets (basically same tweet worded differently so you don’t sound like a broken record), and use it to help monitor topics that you are interested in.

I enjoy using Twitter as a tool to instantly connect with people, to learn about them and from them! I also like to hear about things that are going on in their world. I most especially love to broadcast messages of love, joy and happiness to counteract the fear and gloom from the news and negativity.

I absolutely love to help inspire, motivate, encourage and interact with others. I like to tweet and connect, while at the same time sending out tweets that interest me as well as tweets I think would be interesting or helpful to others. I won’t tweet or retweet it if I don’t find it interesting, funny, positive or if I don’t think it might be of value to someone.

Twitter has been unmatchable in bringing traffic in to this Holistic Show blog, my fan page of Facebook, my blog talk radio show, HolisticTwitter.com and TwitterTango.com. For those of you who have a business, service or web properties, Tweet Later is an indispensable tool for those that are looking at using Twitter to broadcast their message to a wider audience… like most things, you just need to use your best judgement so as not to turn off your followers.

Twitter brings THOUSANDS of visitors a month to my websites and Tweet Later can help people manage that aspect of their website promotion, leaving more time to Tweet.

If you are a busy work at home Mom/Dad and Twitterholic like me, you know that ANYTHING that allows you to get more Tweet Time in is a thing TO BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF! =) Not to mention a boon to your peace of mind while you are spending quality time with the family.

Follow me, @AndreaTannouri (Twitter) the @HolisticMamma (Holistic) on Twitter for inspiration, education, motivation, and FUN! Just tweet and interact with me if you think I’d like your tweets and you want me to follow you back.

To Recap:

Why I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT Tweet Later =)

* Automates repetitive, boring tasks
* Allows you to schedule and set up recurring “spinnable” tweets
* Multiple account management from one place - forget logging in and out constantly
* Reply all feature for @ replies eliminated copy & paste
* Keyword Monitoring to keep tract of the Public Timeline
* Avoids repetitive typing by enabling you to save draft tweets

Why I suggest CAUTION:

* Self serving Broadcast DMs are a huge Turnoff in Twitterland - DON'T DO IT!

Take the FREE and fully functional trial of TweetLater Professional. They insist you test-drive TweetLater Professional before even giving you the link to upgrade your account. After the trial has expired, it costs a low $29.95 per month to continue using Tweet Later Professional. If you don’t upgrade, your account just reverts back to Tweet Later Free - you don’t have to worry about an automatic charge to your card like other free trials.

You can’t please all the people all the time, and that’s true for any kind of automation. Use caution and care, do the best you can to keep your audiences’ (friends & followers) highest and best interest in mind and you’ll be fine. Go with your gut. If you’re not sure, you probably shouldn’t tweet it.

What Twitter Tools do you use to make more time to tweet? =)

One note about Tweetlater as well - some of Twitterland are totally turned off my auto welcome messages period. I use them b/c I feel when someone follows me, there is no possible way for me to make sure I say hi to everyone. It is kind of like an Opt in on their part, and I want to say thank you for the follow an give them a link to find my main site. Use your best judgment, but best practice is not to try to sell them something in your first interaction with them! =D Happy Tweeting. =D

Hey Aviva!

I use the spinnable tweets to RT other people and to RT quotes that I love love love. So far it works well for me, you just have to use your best judgment and tweak the amount of auto tweets to compliment your real tweets... it's all a grand experiment with this being so new and so many new people coming onto Twitter daily, and you can never make everyone happy! =)

I approach it with doing the best I can to help and inspire as many people as I can, while drawing on the strength, knowledge and goodwill of my follower friends....

How can one use the tweet-scheduling tool without becoming another "tweet-broadcasting" turnoff, though? I haven't yet read a recurring, spinnable tweet that I appreciated; there's always a mechanistic, unilateral feel to these tweets that I find boring at best, and offensive at worst. They often reek of "self-serving" opportunism. I'd be embarrassed to impose on folks in such a transparent abuse of the multilateral, egalitarian sociability that Twitter is so good at facilitating! Maybe I'm missing something here? In fact, I'm SURE I'm missing something here! I'd love to understand how you make use of this Tweet Later feature, Andrea. So... I'll go to your Twitter profile, click on 'Follow' and see how you do it!

An update - I felt like I was missing out on connecting with people so I turned my autofollow back on recently. I couldn't keep up with following everyone I interacted with and wanted to treat them with the trust and respect they treated me with. Any spammers that make it in there I just unfollow and block - simpler =)
